The origin of our project
We have always been in love with the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche, and on numerous occasions the idea of buying a house in one of the towns in the Sierra has been in our heads. One day we decided to go and look at houses for sale, partly for leisure and tourism, as we saw the day when we would be able to fulfil this dream a long time away. After a year of visiting villages and looking at houses, when we thought that none of them fitted us, we saw an advert that caught our attention and we decided to try once again.
The first thing that enchanted us was the enclave, Almonaster la Real, the village, the street ‘La Cuesta’ and its views, but finally what convinced us was that we saw that the investment was viable and that’s where it all began?
The Beginnings of Comprehensive Reform
In the summer of 2023 we began to renovate the house, which had been in disuse for several years, with the intention of turning it into a cosy house full of art. In this case we had to start ‘the house from the roof’ as it was in the worst condition.
Restoring walls became a priority, as well as opening openings in the stone walls for windows and niches to expand the space and light of the house.
During the 8 months that the renovation lasted, we actively participated under the guidance of construction professionals. We dared to build partition walls and even stone benches…
From the roof to the floors and walls, this house has been renovated and decorated with care and attention to detail, adapting to the rural architecture and trying to maintain its essence.
The Idea behind La Casa del Pintor
Our project was born out of a shared passion for art and tourism. We wanted to create a place where guests could disconnect from routine, immerse themselves in nature and enjoy a stay enriched by contemporary art.
Every corner of La Casa del Pintor is decorated with works by contemporary Andalusian artists, creating a living gallery. Our aim is to disseminate and promote local art, offering permanent and temporary exhibitions in a welcoming and unique environment. Guests can explore the works, scan QR codes to learn about the artists and, if they wish, purchase pieces to take home a piece of inspiration.
A Unique Experience
At La Casa del Pintor we strive every day to offer our guests more than just accommodation, we want them to take away with them unforgettable memories, inspired by art, nature and the hospitality of the people of our village. To create a haven where time seems to slow down, in an atmosphere of serenity and culture, creating a unique experience.
