Location

We are in the village of Arroyo, in the heart of the municipality of Almonaster la Real (Huelva). The house is only 5 kms from Almonaster la Real, and 4 kms from Cortegana. This intermediate location between two large towns makes La Casa del Pintor a perfect starting point to visit and get lost in the different villages of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche. Well known towns such as Jabugo, Galaroza, Aroche, Santa Ana la Real, Castaño de Robledo or Fuenteheridos, are only 15 minutes away.

And not much further away, you can visit towns such as Aracena, Alájar, Linares de la Sierra or Cortelazor, just 30 minutes away from our accommodation.

The Village

Arroyo is one of the 14 charming villages of Almonaster la Real. It borders the villages of Acebuches and Las Veredas, in the middle of the mountains, where several streams converge, hence its name.

The houses are perfectly adapted to the rugged terrain and the two nuclei are separated by the road. The nearby orchards, holm oak groves and Mediterranean scrubland surround the village, providing it with a surprising landscape.

The longest tunnel of the entire Zafra-Huelva railway line runs underground.

Its patron saint festivities in honour of the Assumption of Mary and its May Crosses are very popular.
